Fancy a coastal drive the coming weekend? Choose one of the best East Coast States in Malaysia; Kelantan. You will experience a great vacation outside the hustle and bustle of the city. Finding the best accommodation that suites your budget will be an advantage for a rewarding stay. If you were to do a little research, you will soon find that there are plenty of hotel deals in Kota Bharu, the State capital.

If you want to get cheap rates for hotels deals in Kota Bharu, you need to book your room early. If possible, plan the stay between Sunday and Thursday, as it is not the peak period. A reasonable room will give you a good opportunity to travel around and experience Kelantan to the fullest. You may want to consider Tune Hotels as their services are based on optional add-ons. Why pay for things you wouldn’t use? Pay minimal charges while stilll enjoying fine ...
... first class service.

Needless to say, the best hotel deals in Malaysia are usually those which are situated around popular sites such as shopping malls, historical buildings and sightseeing spots. Are you a shopaholic? Choosing the Kota Bharu Mall would enliven your shopping mood in the city. Rantau Panjang in the neighbouring State Terengganu would be a great choice for duty free shopping. Travelling by car or taxi is best as it is 40km from the town. Planning your itinerary well is important as you can then explore some exciting places in Kelantan.

At 40 meters long, the largest reclining Buddha in South East Asia, known as Wat Photivihan Buddha (Sleeping Buddha) is 15km from Kota Bharu. A Thai Buddhist temple, it mainly has ethnic Thai devotees. You can join the local people in making and flying one of Malaysia’s’ national symbols, known as Wau Bulan (Moon Kite). The kite is designed mostly with floral themes. Kelantanese traditional entertainment would be the famous Wayang Kulit or Shadow Puppets. The Dalang (Puppet Master) conducts the theatre, while some traditional instruments play along. You can watch the show at night by crossing the Kelantan river to Kampung Laut. Almost all hotel deals in Malaysia, advertised in the East Coast States will mention something on Wayang Kulit, so be sure not to miss it.

Grab the chance to drop by Pasar Besar Siti Khatijah (Centre Market), as you would have a unique experience. The market is almost entirely run by women. Don’t miss out on local cuisine when you are there. Their popular keropok or Kelantanese crackers made out of fish, prawns and squid is a must. It’ll be a sin to pass the famous Laksa, which are white noodles served with delicious gravy and vegetables. Laksa is made differently in almost every State in Malaysia. Laksa Kelantan has a more full-bodied flavor with fish as the main ingredient. Besides these, there are many Thai influenced dishes such as somtam (green papaya salad) and budu (fermented anchovy) which are worth a try. For those with exotic taste buds, I would suggest the phat phet belut, which has eel as the main ingredient. Many Thai restaurants around Wakaf Bharu have this dish as their main attraction.

Six hours away, a picturesque city awaits those who wish to visit Malaysia’s first ever integrated Hi-Tech park. Situated about 8km from Kulim town, it boasts state of the art industrial, research, education and recreational facilities. Covering almost 4,000 acres, this Hi-Tech park incorporates both form and function. Nightlife begins with the ‘Pasar Malam' (Night Market) which operates from 7.00p.m. to 10.30p.m. every Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Be sure to try out the vast variety of cuisine available as there are stalls by Malays, Chinese, Indians and many more races along the road. Make sure you choose strategic lodging as you can save on transport. Take your time to do some research on hotels deals in Kedah before heading there.

All things said, you can start planning your trip. Start dialing and call for the best deals in town or better still, book online. Being flexible is all it takes when travelling on a budget. It’s all up to you so let’s go ‘Cuti-cuti Malaysia’.
