Driving in the city presents its own unique challenges. Whether they are creeping along congested roads or trying to squeeze their cars in to parking spaces barely larger than their vehicles, it is little wonder city drivers often prefer subcompact cars. However, a subcompact car need not be boring, simply because it is functional and economic to run. The Ford Fiesta is a case in point.

Available in a fabulous range of eye-catching colours, including red, yellow, lime and magenta, the Ford Fiesta will certainly turn heads. However, the Ford Fiesta is not only striking in its appearance. It is also fun to drive.

The Ford Fiesta comes in two body shapes: a four-door sedan or a five-door hatchback. Both designs are surprisingly roomy for a small car, giving both the driver and passengers a decent amount of head and legroom. The Ford Fiesta is available with both manual and automatic transmissions and boasts a 120 horsepower, 1.6 litre, 4-cylinder engine. This gives the Ford Fiesta more than enough power to transport a full load, while making it an exceptionally economic vehicle to run.

When it comes to fuel ...
... economy, the Ford Fiesta is the top of its class, according to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). On the highway, the Ford Fiesta model fitted with the six-speed automatic transmission consumes 4.9 litres of gas per 100 kilometres. In the city, it is no surprise to find that consumption is higher, with the six-speed automatic transmission requiring 6.8 litres of gas per 100 kilometres. The EPA ratings for the Ford Fiesta’s manual transmission model are 5.3 litres per 100 kilometres for the highway and 7.1 litres per 100 kilometres for the city.

Although small, the Ford Fiesta is packed with features more often found in larger models. These include keyless entry and remote start, satellite radio, and message centre with trip computer. Higher-spec Ford Fiestas include heated seats, cruise control, and SYNC voice-activated technology.

The interior styling reflects the Ford Fiesta’s exuberant personality. The trim can be chosen to contrast with the exterior colouring. The dash is well laid out, with good size buttons for a compact interior. Ambient lighting is provided by recessed lights tucked in to the footwells and cupholders. Because it can easily be customized to suit its owner, each Ford Fiesta is packed with personality.
