Florida is one of the easiest destinations when it comes to fishing and boating fun since there are so many location to choose from. Not only is there plenty of fish to catch but you can also enjoy the wonderful weather of Florida, which can be perfect for bass fishermen. This means you can pretty much go out on the lake and fish every day.

The fact that you can fish nearly anytime you want only adds to the attraction of Florida. Depending on the time of year you go the chances of catching your specific type of fish will vary. However, if you simply want to catch fish you stand a good chance of catching something and possibly even something that is out of season due to the barely fluctuating weather.

The lakes in Florida are best known for their largemouth bass and other freshwater fish. However, largemouth bass have seen the fastest growth rates. If you want to catch a trophy size bass then there is no better place to go than Florida.

Then there is Okeechobee Lake, which is actually the Seminole Indian name for big water. This can't be further from the truth since this is the largest freshwater lake in the United States that is located entirely within a single state. The lake is about thirty-seven miles long by thirty miles wide with a coverage area of about seven hundred square miles. The average depth is about ten feet. This lake is known throughout the country for the number of bass per acre and the fact that more trophy bass come out of this lake than any other in the state. Most of the bass in this lake are over eight pounds.

In central Florida the basic forms a variety of lakes. In the upper basin to the south there are a number of marshy headwaters while the middle basin features the widening river that forms lakes Harney, Jessup, Monroe and George. Due to the water in these regions most bass fish will stick close to cover in shallow water. So noisy lures are most effective and by making multiple casts into the same spot you can quickly get the attention of some big bass fish.

Don't be fooled when you come to Florida to fish. Many think the pea-soup colored water means there aren't any fish. However, this is not the case. If you take the time to fish these waters you will get some fishing actions you never thought you would get under these circumstances. Never underestimate the fishing options in Florida; it is a secret that many haven't discovered yet. So for your next fishing vacation is sure to go to central Florida, you won't be disappointed.
