The 2011 match saw some of the greatest players from around the world line up at Twickenham Stadium to show their support for the charity. England World Cup winners Lawrence Dallaglio and Jason Leonard managed the Northern Hemisphere side against Australian and All Black World Cup winners Michael Lynagh and Sean Fitzpatrick who played for the Southern side. The stands at Twickenham were filled with nearly 30,000 spectators showing their support for Help for Heroes and the two matches raised over 2 million pounds.

Many other events are regularly taking place in supportaid of Help for Heroes. The annual Royal Artillery Gold Cup Day is a unique horse racing event and military parade held every February at Sandown Park in Surrey. Last February, Compass Paranormal hosted a spooky evening event at Fort Amherst in Kent to raise money for Help for Heroes.

The armed Armed forces Forces charity has also had the support of many musicians. In 2008, The X Factor finalists released the single Hero, which became the fastest selling charity record of the decade. More recently, the Military Wives Choir single Wherever You Are became last year’s Christmas number one, selling over 600,000 copies in just one month. The choir, made up of military wives based in Chivenor and Plymouth, has raised thousands of pounds for the SAFFA Forces and Help for Heroes.

Every penny of the money raised has been spent or allocated for projects that aim to ensure that our wounded heroes get the very best. Help for Heroes are passionate about what they are doing and as far as they are concerned the sooner they can see results, the better!
