Enjoy time as a spectator at a sporting event and you’ll glance at the scoreboard from time to time. LED scoreboards are useful features to have for a host of sporting applications you see them at football matches, rugby tournaments, cricket tests and numerous other events. Crowds like to keep a tally of the points accrued during sporting occasions and with a large Scoreboard on display there’s always a useful point of reference to look upon. Therefore a Scoreboard has to be easy to read and understand plus it has to be hard wearing as well to enable it cope with all types of weather conditions. That being said, what should a good quality Scoreboard look like? If you had to order a new Scoreboard for an arena or some other outdoor location what should you be looking for?

Size matters!

Spectators need to be able to read scoreboards and it’d be pretty pointless ordering a new scoreboard that was too small to read. Hence the size of the Scoreboard proves to be critical it has to be large enough for a large crowd of spectators to read in whatever position it is placed.

Location is important

Choose ...
... the size carefully and the next thing to think about is where the Scoreboard is going to be placed. If you want an LED display for a football pitch for example do you want the Scoreboard at the end of the field or above the sidelines? The location of the Scoreboard could be critical if spectators are to read it with ease.

Will one scoreboard be enough?

That’s something else for you to think about. Have a Scoreboard fitted above the sidelines and how would the spectators on that side of the field be able to read it? You might have to place two scoreboards on the stands, one on either side of the pitch. This problem could be overcome simply by fitting one large Scoreboard at one end of the pitch.

Do you want a timer added to the Scoreboard?

A clock could be fitted to the Scoreboard that clearly shows the amount of playing time that has elapsed. Would this be a useful feature to add to the Scoreboard or would it be too distracting for the players?

Take a number of factors into consideration when ordering a new scoreboard and it’ll convey the right information with pinpoint precision to the crowds at your sporting events.
