Kindle Rss, Email, & News

Unlike the IPad, Amazon's kindle is perfect for reading eBooks. Its battery life is measured in months not hours and its e-ink screen allows you to read in almost all light conditions with considerably less eye strain.
Unlike the IPad, Amazon's kindle is perfect for reading eBooks. Its battery life is measured in months not hours and its e-ink screen allows you to read in almost all light conditions with considerably less eye strain.
However, the Amazon kindle has no built-in support for email, RSS feeds, webpages, etc. It is designed for reading books brought via the Amazon bookstore.
Thankfully there is a new free service called KindleSend. A content distribution service for Kindle RSS feeds, Kindle Newspapers, Email, and much more. It can automatically download your RSS news feeds, email, webpages, etc and send them to your Kindle.
Kindle RSS Feeds
Choose from a wide range of existing RSS news feeds or create your own custom RSS news feed. The RSS news feeds are automatically downloaded, processed, and combined into a single document specifically formatted for reading on the Amazon ...
... kindle. Amazon provides newspaper subscriptions but the costs of these are pretty high, i.e. usually over $20 USD per month. With Kindle Send's RSS functionality you can get the same news articles for free.
Kindle Email
The Kindle is designed for reading books not for writing documents, browsing the web, or reading email. The Kindle Send service downloads your last 50 emails, combines them into a single document and formats it specifically for reading on the Kindle. It doesn't allow you to send email, but been able to read your email in foreign countries or just keeping important messages available at a moments notice can be invaluable.
FanFiction.Net on the Kindle
In addition to RSS feeds, email, & newspapers; full integration support for third-party content sources like Instapaper and FanFiction.Net is included. For FanFiction.Net, your FanFiction.Net favorites list is used to provide a list of stories to be sent to your kindle; when a new chapter for one of your favorite stories is detected, the story on your Kindle is automatically updated with the new chapter.
Scheduled Kindle RSS Deliveries
You can schedule how and when Kindle RSS, email, & news are sent to your Kindle. If you leave home at 7:30am, you can setup syncing of your Kindle to happen at 7am; so that your latest RSS, email, & news are ready to be read during your commute to work and because everything is stored offline on the Kindle you don't need an active internet connection allowing you to read on the train/tube etc.
You can choose how your Kindle receives updates i.e 3G or WiFi, although please note that Amazon charges for any data sent via 3G, so it is cheaper to use WiFi whenever possible.
Send webpages to your Kindle
Kindle Send can also send the contents of a webpage to your kindle. It removes any advertising/headers and sends you the core content of a page. It can also monitor the webpage for changes, so when a change is detected, the offline webpage on your Kindle is automatically updated.
How to Use It?
Once you've setup a KindleSend account, everything is very simple. You are guided through the setup process, and once setup is complete, you simply browse through a list of sources and click the add button to add it to the list of content to be sent to your kindle. You can either setup automatic schedules to sync your Kindle, or manually log onto the website and click the Sync button.
