Summer always reminds me of being a kid, hanging out at the swimming pool and going barefoot for 4 months; times when you had no worries other than the possibility that the ice cream man might fall ill and miss a day peddling in the neighborhood. I never really thought much about anything out-side the 6 blocks that we ran around in all summer and if it didn't exist between my house and the poolwellit just wasn't important.

As I have grown up and summer is great, there is always something about the fall that really gets me excited. I think living in New York City might have something to do with it. Every year after Labor Day I become increasingly excited to see the leaves change and can't wait for that first day where you walk out the door and the crisp air adds pep to your step that you forgot was there. With the Fall too, comes many great things to do. Having traveled quite a bit on both coasts as well as the South, here are some of my favorite things to do in the fall.

September is a great time to be a sports fan. Growing up in Texas, the arrival of September only means one thing Football Season. One ...
... of my fondest memories is being in college and waking up on Saturday morning knowing that your school had a huge game later that day. Football games are great events to attend all throughout the fall.

September also means baseball playoffs Yankees and Red Sox Astros and Cubbies. Getting a ticket to one of these games is tough, but if you have the chance to attend a playoff game, even if it's not for your home teamGO! It is an experience like no other.

In October you have 30 days to worry about what you are going to wear for Halloween and you kick yourself for not writing down the great costume idea you had last November 1st. Speaking of October and Halloween, you must find at least one haunted House to attend. There truly is something special about paying 25 bucks to walk through a haunted house built out of scrap lumber, operated by a the same people who run the local carnival to have a 16 year old jump out behind you yelling and screaming. I always leave there saying I will never go back only to get suckered in year after year.

When November comes around I am always talking Turkey. Depending on which in -laws are coming in to town, I begin looking for things to do that will occupy them the entire time they are in town. I try really hard to find things that keep them out of the house for as long as possible! Finding tickets to local theatre, comedy clubs, museums, day trips out side the city are all great things and most of them can be had on the skinny. There are several websites, including Stubdog.com that offers a wide range of discounted events that afford you the luxury of keeping the in-laws out of your hair and on your good side. It's a fine line to walk, but practice makes perfect.

November also means college Football Rivalries Michigan-Ohio State Texas A&M- Texas USC- Notre Dame Alabama- Auburn Florida-Florida State. Sam Houston State-Stephen F Austin. Huge rivalries that keep me glued to the TV.
December is one of my favorite months. I love the Holidays. Santa Claus is coming to town and we have so much to do before he gets here. The Rockettes for the friends we have coming to town Wicked tickets at the Pantages Maybe a Hockey game at the Toyota Center? Go listen to a Stevie Ray cover band at Warehouse Live? You can never go wrong seeing one of the many versions of Ebenezer Scrooge. A true Holiday Classic. No matter what your fancy, there are many things going on in December and you should have no problem finding something right up your alley.

As I have grown older, New Years has become more of a rookie night. Why go out and fight traffic, the crowds and sip on ridiculously overpriced cocktails? I can‘t think of a reason to do so. January andwellyou got 4 more months till spring and you get to start it all over again!
StubDog was created in Houston to promote local events with one goal in mind. Give people the opportunity to try something new and entice them to explore events locally for a fraction of the normal cost. StubDog offers event tickets in Houston, Dallas/Fort-Worth and Los Angeles and more. A Fall Season for Events.
