Ramadan is a time of great religious observance for Islamic people. It occurs during the ninth month of Islamic calendar and in 2012; it will begin on Saturday, July 21 and will continue for 30 days until the end of Ramadan on Sunday, August 19. Muslims around the world celebrate Ramadan to commemorate Allah revealing the Quran. During this time, they do not eat or drink anything from sunrise to sunset, while learning patience and humidity. Muslims unite in a period of fasting and spiritual reflection. The annual fast of Ramadan is considered as one of the five pillars of Islam and these pillars are the obligatory acts for all Muslims across all continents. Muslims complete four prayers throughout the day and at night, Qur’an was revealed, known as Laylat al-Qadr. For them, Ramadan 2012 is a time of intense spiritual renewal, reflection and devotion to Allah.
