There are mainly four different types of shelving and storage systems; home, shop, heavy duty, and racking. Though these appear to be rather basic, each of them has specific applications and that is why choosing the right shelving and racking types is extremely important. Safety racking for homes is not as big as the shop and heavy duty racking industries. Simple shelves that hold up to 175 kg are ideal for storage in utility areas of the house. There are a number of strong and affordable as well as lightweight storage systems available in the market.
Household on a low price budget can opt for steel shelving where each shelf holds up to around 150 kg. This may also be needed for the laundry room, cupboards, pantry, and personal closet space. Lightweight wipe-clean plastic shelving that holds up to 35 kg is ideal for use in closets or the home office. These storage systems require minimal assembly and are perfect for those who are not too enthusiastic about the DIY concept.
Shop shelving which is designed for use in a retail setting maximizes floor space and provides a system where products that are for sale can ...
... be displayed. There are plenty of colour options and a wide array of materials that can be chosen to fit in perfectly with the décor of the shop or the property.
Heavy duty storage systems such as industrial workbenches are usually available with height adjustable chipboard shelves that are capable of holding up to 300 kg. These are the most suitable options for sheds and garages or keen gardeners and die hard mechanics as they provide great strength. These storage systems can be used for storing heavy engine parts, tools, and compost and are not primarily designed to reduce floor space. Racking applications are most commonly found in factories and warehouses.
