In Andhra Pradesh’s southern east region is located Tirupati city in Chittoor district. It lies in the Palkonda hills towards northwest region of Chennai. The land is abode to the God Venkateshwara of the Hindus. He is better known as the Lord of the 7 Hills. Tirumala is the sacred or the holy hill of Tirupati. Amongst all the pilgrimage centers of the world, Tirupati is considered to be one of the busiest ones.
The place is mentioned in the earliest literature in Tamil called the Sangam literature. Many of the emperors and kings from different dynasties endowed this place well. Lord Venkateshwara’s temple, Govindaraja Swami Temple, Silathoranam temple, Padmavati Temple, the Sri Venkateswara Museum and the Chandragiri forts and palaces are worth a visit in Tirupati.

It is at the Tirupati temple the Lord of the Universe, Lord Sri Venkateswaraswamy resides. Amongst the popular Indian temples is Tirumala’s Balaji shrine. In fact in India it is one shrine that is termed as the richest. The TTD or the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam manages it. A lot of pilgrims come to fulfil their wishes here. Accessing this place becomes easy from Chennai and hence there are a lot of people coming from Chennai to Tirupati. Tirupati is linked with Chennai and its neighbouring regions well by air, road as well as rail. There are regular flights available on a regular basis. You could visit Tirupati and return back the very same day even.
