Instrument Overview

The Ultrasonic Leak Detector is an instrument used to detect the presence of ultrasound signals or to evaluate the acoustic impact. It enables several industrial applications, but it is designed mainly to satisfy the needs of the electrical industry. Use & Operation

The device is an instrument that transforms an ultrasound pressure into audible signals. It is a kind of frequency converter. An ultrasound acoustic vibration is converted into electric signals of the same frequency. These signals are converted into frequency by a digital converter. This function enables a human's ear to detect the presence of ultrasounds. This instrument is equipped with another cone that allows a direct output of the sound signal. An audio output enables the connection of a headset for applications in very noisy environments or for recording with a PC. The instrument is equipped with an automatic sensitivity controller. A display indicates the ultrasound level. The system automatically adjusts the necessary level of amplification to allow a good frequency conversion by the digital circuit. This amplification level will be part of the value displayed. A 6 dB variation indicates a twice greater presence and for a 20 dB, a signal 10 times stronger. It is possible with the scan button to set the current gain in order to allow a better identification in the case of very powerful sources of noise.
