Improving the appearance of a kitchen or bathroom, and subsequently adding considerable value to a home, by adding stone work or counter tops, flooring and wall tiles is becoming increasingly popular. Today, the majority of worktops installed in homes, hotel and company reception areas and so on consist of either natural stone or composite materials, which are typically referred to as Quartz worktops and tiles.

Where budget is a matter of consideration, Arenastone, Caesarstone, Cimstone or Compac worktops; Diresco, Okite and or Quarella worktops, as well as Silestone, Stone Italiana or Technistone tiles and worktops all offer affordable, yet extremely hardwearing and certainly extremely stylish alternatives to marble or granite, for example.

Because these products are manufactured by combining quartz and/or granite granulates with varying particles for effects, pigments to achieve broad colour ranges and a special resin, they are available in a plethora of colours and effects. As a result, there is a finish to suit any design, style or colour requirement in any residential or commercial setting.

The manufacturing ...
... process also provides these materials with incredible durability. All of them are harder and more flexible than natural stone, making them extremely chip, crack and scratch resistant. It is, for instance, possible to cut meat or vegetables directly on these surfaces without fear of scratching them with a slip of the knife. In addition, composite counter tops are heat and frost resistant, ensuring hot cooking utensils will not cause damages if placed onto the surface.

Because the surface is virtually non porous, it is also highly stain resistant. Liquid spills can not seep into the material, and even corrosive substances, such as, for example, vinegar or lemon, lime or other citric juices, will not cause permanent staining. This non porosity also makes composite worktops highly hygienic, as there is no chance of bacteria cultures developing.

As far as maintenance is concerned, all of these materials have extremely low demands. They do not require polishing, and, unlike natural stone tops, will never require resealing. In short, composite materials are the ideal answer to high quality affordable, hard wearing and low maintenance home improvement demands.

The Marble Group offers the largest selection of natural stone in the UK. With over 16 years' experience, The Marble Group has become one of the premier producers of granite worktops in the country.
