Insurance covers protect businesses from potential risks of losses as a result of unpredictable circumstances. Business insurance covers lie under general insurance business offering non-life covers. Businesses can incur losses from many other factors other than the normal market losses. Such risk factors are covered for by the business owner by paying an amount called the premium to the insurance company, which in turn compensates the person in case of any loss within the preset risk horizon. Liquor liability insurance is a type of cover that is used to protect businesses from liquor-base claims against the business. They involve claims that may result due to the actions of an intoxicated person who was served liquor at the business premises.

There are two major types of liquor insurance, which include are categorized according to the conditions under which the liquor was served. Host liquor liability covers are used to protect the business in cases where liquor was served by the business, on condition that the business does not ...
... manufacture or vent liquor or liquor related products. This type of cover protects businesses that where patrons are served liquor covering the business from potential losses as a result of the actions of the patrons. For instance, the patrons once served liquor could involve themselves in a car accident or injure external parties who may launch claims against the business where they were served the liquor. For the cover to function, the vendor who sold the liquor to the patrons must be registered and insured. The cover excludes cases where the accidents were intentional and within the control of the person involved. Under such circumstances, the drunkard is held responsible for his/her actions.

The general business liquor liability coverage protects businesses selling or manufacturing liquor and liquor related products, if the liquor is manufactured at the premises. Actions of drunken people could result in losses leading to losses to the manufacturer. The cover may cover other aspects such as poisonous effects of drinkers. However, the cover does not cover criminal acts of nuisance or intentional manipulation of drinkers. Businesses can include liquor liability covers as stand-alone policies or as a tag along policy. Stand-alone policies are most preferred if the business deals specifically with liquor products while the tag along policy can be preferred for a host liability cover. The business should take precautionary measures to prevent potential losses from happening.
