Ferrari F430 Review
The new exciting Ferrari F430 evokes memories of 360 Modena yet it has attained critical acclamation and appeal that gives it a respectable standing in the race circuits. Even so, pretty much of the mechanicals, design, and dimensions from the wheelbase, to height, tracks, and its shape are a cross over from the Modena.
Engine and Performance
Although the F430 arose from the Modena, nonetheless, its engine is greatly enhanced. Almost 70 % of the components are redesigned to improve functional efficiency. Though it shares the same aluminium block with Maserati, the reciprocating parts are much lighter, more efficient, and more powerful. Thus, it’s fair to say that the 4.3 liter, 4308cc engine has better design and efficiency.
As for performance, drivers will find the improved tractability of this model a welcome enhancement. And at 8500 rpm, the engine delivers 488 hp and 360 kw and a 465 N.m of torque. The better torque allows the engine to punch more power without making much noise.
F430 accelerates from 0-100km/h in just 4.0 seconds and can attain a top speed of 315 km/h on a racing track which ...
... makes it faster than its predecessor. This puts the speed of this racing machine within the spectrum of the Lamborghini Gallardo.
Steering, Tyres, and Brakes
The steering is quite responsive and precise and much better than those of the Enzo and Gallardo. The driver gets better control because of the light and agile nature of the steering, no doubt about that. F430 model comes with the Eagle F1 tyres which have run-flat capability and v-shaped treads.
The brakes have better heat dissipation capacity thanks to its improved cast iron alloys mounted on the brake discs. The brake package comes in ceramic composite and Silicone carbide reinforced with carbon fibre. The company claims that the brakes are good even after 360 laps test on a race track.
Interior and Exterior
The interior is quite refreshing and the driver can take advantage of the 5 different settings to modify the driving experience and feel. The cabin is well trimmed and ventilated to enhance the comfort of the crew. It has reasonable space on the interior and the ambience is equally great. It comes as a 6 manual speed or semi-automatic transmission.
Just viewing the caboose gives you the impression that this model was designed and crafted for better performance. The aerodynamic body tweaks enable this racing machine to generate a great amount of down force than the F360. At 186mph, this averages 130kg at the front and 150 kg at the rear while maintaining the drag co-efficiency at 0.33. Drivers can also expect to maintain unabated speeds when attacking corners.
Pricing
It should not come as a surprise that sportier model like F430 would be at the spectrum of its sister the F438 Italia. The starting price in the US was $186,000 to $217,000, €175,000 in the EU, and about £118,500 in the UK.
