The Rise Of Online Games
Our world has evolved primarily in terms of technology and way of living. Things have now become fast-paced and people are always in the hustle and bustle of everything. Technology has transformed the work and home into a much easier and up-to-date advancement in the history of human kind. Manual services have evolved with the help of machines and things just became at the reach of our fingertips.
Amidst the moments spent in dealing with day-to-day living, humans are very intelligent in not only creating technology as a functional tool but as something worth enjoying for all types of people, for many races and for every individual. Games have also been transformed in mapping individuals to not only create fun and enjoyment but more also, to introduce how advanced the technology is getting in order to extract and extend the various physiological capacities of the human brain.
Online games then evolved as it spread across the computer network. As online games expanded, so too, the expansion of computer networks from small ones to large and extensive networks ranging from simple games to more complex and ...
... mind-boggling ones. Online games started from being text based to having complex graphics that created not just amusement and fun but a brain exercise for people of all ages.
Early Online Games
Some of the early games that gave rise to the world-renowned online games nowadays are the following: Plato System's game gallery, Maze War and many others. There were also classic games such as Chess, Scrabble and other common board games.
The 1990s Era
As online games expanded from small to large networks, so too did the rise of the online communities which paved the way for social interaction amongst online players. These online communities also expanded as they now created a venue for people to not only socially interact but also bring about competitive activities as well to challenge the skills and capacities of online players.
At the onset of 1990s, online games started to pave its way through various LAN protocols and through the Internet through the TCP/IP protocol. First-person shooter games then came about with the dawn of Doom which is a popularized version of the Deathmatch. From then on, many first-person shooter games then came about and became widespread amongst online players.
In the late 1990s, there came about the real-time strategy games, cross-platform online games, and browser games.
As the millennium approached and as broadband Internet access grew in various developed countries, massive multiplayer online games then sprouted. With over hundreds of thousands of online players playing simultaneously, this definitely became a huge revolution in the online gaming industry.
