Lyme disease was first discovered in Lyme, Connecticut in 1975. Thirty four years later, on July 16, 2009, Connecticut Governor M. Jodi Rell signed into law, a bill that protects physicians who treat chronic Lyme disease – thereby recognizing Lyme as an official disease. Nevertheless, despite Lyme’s public recognition – improvement in treatment strategies still must be improved to help the ever-increasing numbers of patients suffering with it.

Lyme disease is a multi-system condition that often carries co-infections which can interfere with its diagnosis. Known to influence and exacerbate other chronic illnesses, Lyme is often mishandled as patients deal with a variety of symptoms that can match those of Fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome.

5 Keys to Understanding Chronic Lyme Disease

Anything that is worth doing typically requires more than a single step to complete. Such tasks take time, most of which requiring hard work and sustained effort. One must prepare, implement a strategy, and then persevere until the conclusion is reached. With that said, our Lyme disease protocol has taken roughly ...
... a decade to assemble by taking on each facet one by one, until the big picture fell into place.

The proper way to grasp what we like to call “Lyme disease complex” requires adhering to five essential strategies that improve both the approach and end result. They are as follows:

Strategy 1 – Chronic Lyme disease always simultaneously presents more than one infection which can range from bacterial to viral or fungal or protozoa – all successfully co-existing within patients’ bodies. By treating just one infection, it is likely the patient will not improve and most symptoms will remain. This is of critical importance because the patient will be dragged into a cycle of long-term illness with little to no improvement with each treatment attempt. Physicians who are not “Lyme literate” typically fail to address all contributing infections properly.

Strategy 2 – Lyme’s complex of co-infections compromise the Immunotherapy. And a rundown immune system never does its job properly, leading to new symptoms presenting that mimic those of fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue syndrome, and up to 300 other notable medical conditions.

This “now what” type of disease sees patients walk through the doors of many physicians and care providers over time, with little to show for their efforts. Why? Because although Lyme disease gets all the “press” it is Immunotherapy likely not the only infection causing illness - many co-infections are likely contributing to the steady decline of the patients’ overall wellness.

Moreover, not everyone will have the same infections; rather, some may suffer with various tick borne co-infections along with other active viral combinations. Because the immune system is directly under fire, the patient is vulnerable to other infections that would normally be harmless.

Strategy 3 – Research indicates that these nasty co-infections may actually communicate through synergistic mechanisms of replication and may even involve complex cell to cell signaling between infections and co-infections. In other words, while one infection is being treated, another may recognize its opportunity, grow, and attract the immune’s attention, thereby allowing the primary infection to re-establish itself. Envita is working overtime to ensure that treatment protocols include multi-infection approaches that Immunotherapy include simultaneous and ongoing immune system reconstitution.
Strategy 4 - Biofilm plays an integral role in protecting Lyme’s primary and co-infections from standard treatments like antibiotics. To ensure the efficacy of treatment, biofilm must be stripped away.

Strategy 5 - Lyme infections release neurotoxins that compete with receptor sites throughout the body including neural and hormonal. Neurotoxins are hard for the body to eliminate and their release will disrupt the body’s overall functionality. Moreover, neurotoxins can take long time to remove by means of a process that is fairly complex – but making neurotoxin detox a part of Lyme treatment is critical to patient health and recovery.

When one considers all 5 strategies outlined above, it is clear why so many patients in treatment fail to get acceptable results.
