There are great coins to be collected from all over the world, as most of those at sites like US Gold Bureau know, but platinum coins offer a unique choice because they are so much less common. Plenty of coin collectors and investors are aware of the Canadian Gold Maple Leaf coin, many are not aware of the Platinum version of this same coin. Some United States Gold Bureau fans may know that this is a coin produced by the Royal Canadian Mint and that it was made not only in 2009, but also between 1988 and 2002. The reason these coins were minted is because collectors and investors alike took renewed interest in platinum as another precious metal to store wealth in.

Many US Gold Bureau investors can tell you that during the first run of Platinum Maple Leafs, the coins were minted in sizes that ranged from one twentieth of an ounce all the way up to a full ounce. These coins featured a design that showed a 39 year old version of Queen Elizabeth II. The 1990 version of this coin, as United States Gold Bureau fans often know, showed the Queen at the age of 64. The 2009 edition of the Platinum Maple Leaf showed the Queen aged ...
... 79 and was only available in 1 ounce size.

The reason the coins were discontinued when they were is because platinum had climbed in price so much that even investors at sites like U.S. Gold Bureau backed off slightly. This scarcity is why it is often hard to find a coin of this type - most of those who have them are not eager to sell them by any means due to this. Most U.S. Gold Bureau fans realize that really there are 3 primary kinds of platinum coins ever minted and the Platinum Maple Leaf is one of them. Rarity and beauty of design is what makes these coins so sought after today.

It is important to understand that these coins are.9995 percent pure platinum and that they can still be used as legal tender in Canada. Of course, their face value that ranges between $1 and $50 would be a horrible price to let them go at since they are worth so much more. Those who buy one of these coins today will end up paying the price of the platinum they contain since this is the standard when it comes to these coins.

People interested in Platinum Maple Leafs should realize that their value is set to rise in the years to come. Platinum is only getting more scarce and because it is used in so many industries, it will rise in value perhaps even faster and higher than gold will. This is something to keep in mind for those who are building their own portfolio of precious metals.
