Nine Ways To Help Your Flaky Scalp
Looking for ways to minimize or eliminate flaky scalp? You can also keep flakes at bay using a few simple techniques and natural methods at home. Many people may not realize it, but we are all constantly shedding dead skin cells from all over our bodies. This is simply a natural process of cell rejuvenation; the old skin flakes away, revealing newer, healthier-looking skin underneath. By the end of approximately one month, your body will have an entirely new skin, but while you do not notice the subtle shedding of body skin that occurs on a constant basis, some of us may notice our heads shedding when it results in a flaky scalp. Flakes of white skin accumulate on shoulders and show up dusting dark clothing and hair, resulting in embarrassment and self-consciousness. For flaky scalp help, these tips may make a big difference:
1. Change shampoos. Some shampoo formulas may lead to an increase of flaky scalp while others may limit it. Seek products that are formulated to offer flaky scalp help.
2. Wash your hair daily. Your first order of business for reducing flaky scalp is simply washing your hair on ...
... a daily basis. This will keep the colonies of yeast-like fungus that cause flakes at bay and eliminate excess oils.
3. Change shampoos again. If you’re already using a specially formulated shampoo, your scalp may build up a resistance to the active ingredients geared toward flaky scalp help that are found in the shampoos. Switching to a new shampoo may address the problem. Try rotating a few different brands of these specially formulated shampoos every few weeks.
4. Shampoo twice. Lathering up more than once will fight the build-up of oil and yeast.
5. Try a tar shampoo. Tar is quite effective in eliminating flaky scalp because it reduces the pace at which cells cycle. However, tar shampoo products should be used with caution as it can stain your hair and irritate your scalp … which may ultimately lead to more flaky scalp.
6. Use a conditioner. Conditioner will soften your hair shaft (especially after using products formulated for flaky scalp) and make it more manageable and less brittle.
7. Don’t scratch! Individuals prone to flaky scalp are tempted to scratch their itchy scalp. However, all this does is dislodge more skin cells and exacerbate the problem. Furthermore, scratching will lead to small abrasions which, in turn, can lead to scabbing and yet more flaky scalp.
8. Shower after working out. Sweating irritates your scalp, which will eventually contribute to more flaking and itching.
9. Don’t use hair styling products. Mousses, gels, and hairsprays all lead to icky buildup on your scalp, leading to … you guessed it … more flaky scalp.
