The life of man cannot be sustained without food. It is not possible to have all kinds of fruits and vegetables at all times because most of them grow in different seasons. Similarly, you cannot always shop for halal food all the time because of work and other responsibilities. For this reasons, people have come up with inventions and ways of storing food and preserving them to last for a longer time. The most common foods that are frozen include meat, fruits used for desert and gourmet food that needs to be preserved after cooking or as leftovers. These ways have allowed people to enjoy halal food that are out of season and also buy food in bulk without having to shop all the time. One such method is freezing food. Frozen food usually lasts longer than food that is kept refrigerated or stored on shelves. This allows us to keep the food safely ...
... and avoid bacteria from poisoning the food. Experts advise people to keep frozen food in not less than 41° F to keep bacteria from multiplying on the food.

When one needs to eat these foods, it is important to thaw them sufficiently. Some people thaw Halal food in warm temperatures or do not allow enough time for thawing. Others go to the extent of using hot water or fire which can cause food poisoning and other illnesses. It is, therefore, important to thaw frozen food well using the best methods to ensure that one remains healthy and also enjoys his favourite meals. A common misconception that people have is that frozen food is not delicious. On the contrary, frozen foods never lose their flavour when kept. In fact, they usually retain their freshness and are safer than refrigerated and other foods bought on the shelves.

The best methods of thawing frozen food include using a refrigerator, a microwave or running it in cold water. Thawing food using a refrigerator takes the longest time especially for animal products. This requires a day to thaw well. Thawing food using cold water takes little time but the water must be kept cold and food submerged completely in the water. It is important to ensure that the water being used is clean so as to avoid contaminating the food after preservation. In addition, halal food that is frozen must be kept in a container or a polythene bag that does not leak. This is to keep food safe from bacteria that may be in the cold water. Some frozen food may become watery if left to soak the cold water. People prefer thawing using a microwave because it is the fastest process. However, this process usually needs utmost attention because parts of the halal food may start cooking before thawing sufficiently.

It is also important to remember to place frozen food in air tight containers and package them well so that water does not drip on the surface. Foods that are frozen in small quantities usually take a day to thaw while much food can take several days. Halal foods that have been thawed must be cooked immediately to avoid contamination and food poisoning.
