This summer you never know what type of weather we are going to get which is why, when you live in the UK, you have to always have a plan B when you are organising anything to do with the weather. The summer months have arrived and whilst we wait for the summer weather to follow we can start to plan for when the sun arrives and plan a gathering with those closest to us.

The most popular thing to do when the sun comes out is to get the barbecues charged up and get some great food on. However, you also need some refreshing drinks to make sure that your guests stay hydrated, something very important when the sun is out. Juices and water are good to have to hand but at the same time you want some nice, refreshing alcoholic drinks for those that fancy one (the non-drivers!).

Wines tend to be a favourite for many hosts so it is important that you find the right types of wine. For those that are relative novices at choosing the right type of wine here are some basic guidelines; we say guidelines because that's exactly what they are and everyone has their own preferences. White wine is best served with white meats like ...
... chicken and fish, this is because they are the lighter wine and goes perfectly with a nice bit of barbecue chicken or salmon; red wines are best served with red meat such as steak, this is because reds are heavier wines.

Then you have rose wines which are great with desserts so you can get a wide range of wines to go with whatever you are planning on serving. Remember that not all your guests are the same so just as you will serve different types of meats and salads, you should have different types of wine to hand when required.

There are different types of grape that make up the wines but if you are a novice at choosing wines then it is best to not get into too much detail. The great thing is that there are a number of companies supplying wine nowadays so finding a great deal should not prove to be too problematic for you. You don't need to spend a small fortunate either in order to get the best quality wine and unless you have wine connoisseurs coming to your party there shouldn't a need to splash out.

When looking for the best types of wine, make sure you search for the leading wine companies in the UK who have a number of great deals on South African wines and more online.
