Jim Corbett National Park is one of the oldest parks in India. This was set up as Hailey National Park in the year 1936. It is located in the state of Uttarakhand in Nainital. The park is named after the famed conservationist and hunter, Jim Corbett, who was instrumental in establishing it. The endangered Bengal Tiger lives here. Corbett National Park boasts of over 488 species of fauna. This place is a magnet for wildlife and adventure lovers and comprises marshy depressions, riverine belts, lake, grass lands, and hills. This elevation varies from nearly 400 m to 1200 m and covers 520.8 sq. km of area. Hunting is strictly prohibited here, but cutting of timber is allowed.
