Asian cuisine is the term given to the cuisines that originate and are found in the Asian continent. The Asian continent comprises of various countries. These countries are divided broadly, as per their geographic locations. In terms of cuisine, each country, and each state within the country, has its own take on food. There is a lot of diversity, as far as food, culture, and lifestyles are concerned in these Asian countries. If one wishes to understand the diversity, then he or she can take into consideration the various languages that are spoken, the various dialects that exists, the appearance of the people, and the belief systems.
The main and easiest way to understand the diversity is by taking a look at the cuisine. Understanding what people in the various countries eat, can help uncover the history and culture of the people. The Japanese cuisine forms a key part of the cuisines that are found in Asia. This cuisine comprises, predominantly, of steamed rice, main dishes, and side dishes. Clear soups form an integral part of the cuisine, along with pickles. The Japanese serve rice in a bowl, and each course is placed in small plates.
There are various dishes that are found in this cuisine that do not follow strict traditional recipes, but have been tweaked to meet the palate of the younger generation and tourists. The pork cutlet and various deep fried chicken and meat dishes are a few examples of the same. The curry rice is another popular dish, and the ramen noodles also finds its place on the list of dishes that are preferred by westerners.
A Korean restaurant is the best place to sample some of the lip-smacking Korean dishes. This cuisine features rice, meats, and vegetables. The Kimchi is the popular version of spiced pickles. The ingredients that are commonly used in Korean cuisine are sesame oil, soy sauce, ginger, pepper, and garlic.
The regional dishes that are available in Korea have become national dishes, and the meals that are served here are highly regulated by the deep cultural etiquette.
