The Best Doors In Case Of Fire

When there is only a piece of plastic between the people you care about and something as dangerous as a house fire, it is vitally important that you are sure the protection you have afforded your family is the best that money can buy.
The good news is that "the best that money can buy" does not necessarily have to be expensive, especially when it comes to composite fire doors, which can be relatively inexpensive; especially when you consider the level of protection they can provide.
Obviously, a traditional wooden panel door is not going to stand up well in the even that a house fire breaks out; wood burns extremely quickly, and most people coat the wooden panels with a thick layer of highly flammable varnish each and every year; an old door like this can be more fire hazard than deterrent. Since very few homes have the proper extinguishers to aid in escaping through a burning doorway, a cheap oak or pine door is a poor investment.
These doors do not fare much better against intruders either, who are likely to see the absence of a proper UPVC composite as an easy point of entry; a few swift kicks are enough ...
... to dislodge a panel and bust through, or a kick near the handle could rip the lock clean out of the frame so the door swings open.
A UPVC composite door is a different matter; even a standard version will last considerably longer than a wooden version, which could gain enough time for you and your family to get out of your home if it becomes necessary to do so. UPVC composite will not make a fire worse either, as most doors sold in the UK have a layer of flame retardant plastic or at least a fireproof coating on the outsides, as opposed to the thick layers of sticky varnish that will ensure your wooden door catches light when the first spark hits it.
In recent years there have been great advancements in dedicated fire doors. These thicker composites are excellent at repelling fires, keeping the flames at bay at least long enough for you to get your children out of the house before any danger is posed by the smoke, much less the fire itself. Coupled with the flameproof nature of the whole construction, you can be sure that spending a few hundred pounds on a proper door will guarantee the safety of your family in case of fire.
There have been major advancements in dedicated UPVC composite doors in recent years, which has meant that the technology for fire doors has improved enough for them to become both inexpensive and extremely effective should a fire break out, visit http://www.force8.co.uk/force8arched-fd30firedoor.php for more info.
