... South Africa.

The Hope diamond is the most famous blue diamond in the world. Its estimated value is over $200 million us dollars! King Louis XIV of France had worn it in his neck as a ceremonial pendant in 1668. Hope Diamond remained in French monarchy and so its name became ‘Blue Diamond of the Crown’. Its current name Hope Diamond was given by Henry Philip Hope in 1824. Before it was donated to Smithsonian Institution by Harry Winston in 1958, it went from family to family for years.
