Over the past few years, India has been successful making a name for herself in the global medical arena. Clinical researches, trials, medical studies and experiments have been successfully conducted in the country in the recent past. Simultaneously, the Indian government too has played a crucial role in standardizing the policies concerning the conduct of clinical researches.

The other factor that helped in successfully carrying out clinical research in India and trials is the heightened medical awareness of high end clinical practice needs and greater desire for international acceptability of research. This has brought a favorable change in the attitude of Indian clinical professionals towards taking part in clinical trials. Investigators are also eager today to take part in clinical trials that are GCP compliant and also adhere to protocols.

In the recent past, renowned clinical research organizations (CRO) in India have been successfully carrying out clinical researches. Noteworthy ones are the Phase II to Phase IV trials. Therefore, they have acquired a strategic alliance ...
... and association with other esteemed medical institutions. At the same time, CRO’s today have access to large databases that spans across important therapeutic zones and other essential proprietary therapies, diagnostics and the overall drug development process.

Furthermore, well known Indian CRO’s have their own research programs come up with innovative study designs covering Phase 1 Study, Pharmacokinetic analysis, clinical pharmacology and other bio-analytical process development. All this is carried by an expert team and other clinical co-coordinators. They have taken up a 360 degree approach to clinical trials and researches and makes sure that the sponsors also benefit from their services. They are:-

* Pharmacy Services that assures a strict adherence to GCP and other allied international regulatory requirements

* Feasibility Studies

* Clinical Trial Supplies and Management

* Bio Statistics

* Project Management

* Clinical Monitoring

* Volunteer Recruitment and Planning

Apart from efficient clinical researches, there are other key services that CRO’s offer, for instance bio studies, biometrics, medical Writing and various studies on Bioavailability and Bioequivalence that are carried in multiple centers in agreement with global regulatory needs, administered with precision by a separate quality assurance department.

Recently, as per a joint study conducted by Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry and Ernst & Young, it is said that India today takes part in more than 7 percent of all global Phase III and 3.2 percent of all global Phase II trials. A report from RNCOS, a marketing research organization also suggests that the Indian clinical trials outsourcing market is expected to expand by 30 per cent between the years 2010 and 2012.
