Barcelona itself could keep you occupied for weeks but just outside it are sandy beaches, Sitges and the Montserrat mountain range - so be sure to make time for a few day trips during your stay. Barcelona functions as a host city for a number of intra-located smaller "cities."

Barcelona sits sandwiched between the Llobregat and Besos Rivers along the Mediterranean coast. It is the second largest city in Spain and the capital city of Catalonia. Catalonia is one of Spain's fifty autonomous communities.

Barcelona, in the north east of Spain, is the capital of Catalunia. A hectic modern city on the Mediterranean Sea is considered by many as Europe's gateway to Spain. It is bilingual as both Catalan and Castillian Spanish are its official languages and it enjoys a large degree of autonomy.

The restaurants in Barcelona are as varied as locals and visitors themselves. Apart form the typical regional dishes you can find exactly what your heart desires from Japanese to Mexican, from pizzarias to haute cuisine. Of course the Catalan dishes are prominent and Basque dishes are to be recommended for the hearty eaters. Accompany this with the wide wine selections of the region and you will be ready to experience Barcelona's lively nightlife.

That is what we all come here for (apart from shopping, Gaudi, beaches and the sun.) Barcelona has a very good nightlife, simply because there are lots of foreigners, students, and tourists. You can find every kind of night club you are looking for, from jazz to tourist techno trash. Here are a few suggestions about some areas to visit.

The Museo Picasso is the most visited museum in Barcelona. The museum is a shrine to famed artist Pablo Picasso in the form of three stone mansions featuring a massive collection of the artist's work.


The Chocolate Museum is a "delicious" museum in Barcelona which wants us to travel through the history of this excellent product, since its origins as a spicy drink to its delight as a French sweet. Chocolate has always been seen with different purposes: as a medicinal element, an aphrodisiac product, a nutritional value and element located between a legend and reality.
