Ensure Your Home Is Fun And Funky With Iconic Bubble And Ball Chairs
Ball Chairs
Ball chairs were designed back in 1963 when the funky 60s era was in full swing. Back then, ball chairs were often referred to as globe chairs due to their futuristic design. Creator Eero Aarnio designed an unconventional prototype, which became his new line of fibreglass seating.
The chair was often seen in print and television advertisements, where it was placed in open living spaces to create a relaxing yet funky atmosphere. The chair also made regular appearances on the hit 60s TV show The Prisoner, and has been seen in many music videos across the decades due to its playful and colourful design.
Bubble Chairs
In 1968 Eero introduced the bubble chair. Following on from the ball chair concept, this new, modern chair was suspended and created with fibreglass for a real weightless effect. Just like the ball chair, bubble chairs were often seen in open plan living areas with bright cushions. The hanging chair’s original design had removable silver seat cushions, making it feel like something out of a spaceship.
The bubble chair has been spotted in films such as Dazed and Confused ...
... and Moon Zero Two, and in many TV shows staring Vivienne Westwood.
Buying a Bubble or Ball Chair
Bubble and ball chairs are still popular today and many reproductions have been created for both indoor and outdoor use. Stylish chrome stands have been designed to safely hold the bubble chair, which can be used in garden or living areas.
Perhaps you’re hosting a 60s themed party and want to really go to town with the decorations, or maybe you just want to add a retro and funky vibe to your home. Bubble and ball chairs come in a wide range of colours from vibrant royal blue to girly, Barbie pink.
Bubbles and Balls supply a wide selection of bubble and ball chairs. Cocoon yourself in a comfy, relaxing haven with these retro, iconic chairs.
