The origin of tattoos dates far back in time. In Egypt, tattoos that were discovered on mummies were found to date from about 2000 B.C. The word tattoo is thought to have evolved from tattau, a Tahitian word, which means "to mark." In some civilizations they are a rite of passage for boys into man-hood. For others they're symbols of beauty and grace for new mothers or blushing brides. Whatever the meaning behind them, they have been around for years and do not show any signs of declining in favor.
