Jaisalmer Packages - Desert Land

Jaisalmer is situated in the state of Rajasthan towards the western part near the Thar Desert, close to Indo-Pak boarder.
The fort town of Jaisalmer was founded by Maharawal Jaisal in the year 1156 AD after having shifted his capital from Ludharva, 18 km away from Jaisalmer.
An ideal Jaisalmer package would include all the sightseeing options in Jaisalmer, be it the fort, the palaces, the havelis, the Jain temples, and the sand dunes.
The Jaisalmer fort, known as Sonar Quila or the Golden Fort, is one of the few forts where people live inside.
The Jaisalmer town consists of a palace complex, intricately carved havelis, Jain temples and the residential complexes.
Next to the fort is the Government Museum established by the Department of Archaeology. The museum showcases a lot of artefacts like rock cut crockery and jewellery, statues, weapons, garments and antique items.
If you are interested in Rajput architecture choose a Jaisalmer package where you can visit all the royal mansions, known as havelis.
Nathmal ki Haveli was built by two architect brothers and the left and right ...
... portions of the haveli have different designs. Salim Singh ki Haveli was built by Salim Singh, the prime minister of Jaisalmer, and the haveli is known for its beautifully arched roof with carved brackets in the form of peacocks. Pathwon Ji ki Haveli is a group of havelis; all of them are five storeyed.
Right in the market area, the Tazia Tower, is a five-tiered tower built in the shape of a Tazia, which is a float taken during the Muharram procession. Adjacent you can find a heritage hotel, Mandir Palace, and the palace or residence of the ex-ruler’s family, Badal Vilas.
Gadsisar Lake was built by Maharawal Gadsi in 14th century and is the main source of drinking water for Jaisalmer. There are many small temples and shrines around the lake and boating can be enjoyed.
On the approach road to Gadsisar Lake is a gateway known as Tillon ki pol built by a royal courtesan named Tillon.
About 45 km from Jaisalmer is the Desert National Park, where you can find wild life like blackbuck, chinkara, wolf, Indian fox, desert fox, hare and desert cat.
Just 17 km from Jaisalmer is the Akal Fossil Forest, where fossilized remnants of a 180 million year old forest is found.
One can also avail a Jaisalmer package where you enjoy a camel ride at the dunes at Sam and Khuri or include other spots like Kuldhara, Mool Sagar and Bada Bagh.
Jaisalmer is connected by broad gauge and meter gauge tracks. Jaisalmer is also connected to the rest of state by well-maintained roads. The nearest airport to Jaisalmer is Jodhpur, 300 km away.
