High in the Dhauladar lies Dalhousie which gets its name from Lord Dalhousie who was a Viceroy during the British Rule. It was during his times that this town was discovered and its potential as a holiday town recognised. For a long time, it housed the TB Sanatorium as the cold dry air here helped people with the disease.
