Leeds In England

Leeds can be referred to as one of the major cities of Great Britain situated on ‘River Aire', in West Yorkshire. It's the administrative center and urban core of the broader metropolitan area of City of Leeds. The rural area of Leeds had been awarded the status of being a city in the year 1893. However, in 1974, the above status got transferred to bigger new-fangled metropolitan area called ‘City of Leeds'. The present scenario is such that even though Leeds is being referred to having an urban status, it cannot be mentioned on the legal basis till discussion with respect to the broader area is carried out.
Origin
The origin of City of Leeds can be gone in to by glancing through the fifth century. It was the time when Elmet's kingdom had been covered by Loidis forest. The name ‘Leeds' was derived from the name of this forest. When Europe plunged in to Industrial Revolution, development of Leeds took place in the form of a significant industrial center with regards to trade and production of wool, prior to its emergence in the form of location of University of Leeds, Leeds Metropolitan University, ...
... and Leeds Trinity and All Saints University. The city, today, is amongst the biggest legal and financial centers out of London.

Leeds has been receiving a number of accolades in terms of tourism, inclusive of being voted as ‘UK's Favorite City' by Readers' Awards of Conde Nast Traveler magazine in the year 2004, ‘Best English city for visiting outside London' in the year 2005, along with ‘Visitor city of the year' in the same year by Good Britain Guide.

It's supported by the extensive air, road, and rail network, thereby making traveling easy and quick. Leeds benefits a great deal due to proper transport connections through M1 running between Leeds and London, M62 commuting between Manchester and Leeds, and A1 linking to north. Seaport cities such as Liverpool and Hull are also connected with Leeds. Leeds Bradford International Airport is amongst the quickest growing UK airports.
