Are you having a difficult time seeing, especially at night? When you're driving or riding in a vehicle, do you seem to notice the glare coming from automobile and business lights more than those in the vehicle with you? Or, maybe your vision has slowly become worse over the last few years and your optometrist says you have a cataract?

If so, you may want to search for a cataract surgeon and are curious about what happens during and after surgery. During this operation, the cloudy lens that is causing you to not see as you want to is removed and is replaced with a synthetic lens.

When you compare this to other surgeries, it is relatively simple. You are in and out of surgery in the same day and recovery after surgery is normally quick. This operation can be performed at any stage of development.

You are probably even able to go back to work the day after surgery, but you will have to be cautious with your eyes over the next several weeks. After this operation, your vision will be much improved, but your eye will have a small wound that needs to heal. You will want to do what you can to let your eye heal, ...
... so take it easy on your eyes for a few days (or longer) following surgery. You will probably receive an eye patch that can be used to protect your eye.

You will want to be cautious with what you put in your eyes as they heal. When showering or washing your face, you will want to do what you can to keep water out of your eyes. You may want to use wet wipes or a very damp washcloth to clean your face for the first several days after your eye operation is complete. You will want to avoid swimming altogether for a couple of weeks after surgery.
Do what you can to avoid any contact with your healing eyes. This may mean that you need to hold off on the exercise and athletics for a week or two. Avoid lifting heavy objects or other forms of activity that you may overexert yourself doing.

You will want to keep dust and dirt out of your eyes. If you are used to spending time in the yard mowing the lawn or gardening, you will want to put it on pause for a couple weeks or hire someone to do it for you. If nothing else, you should at least wear safety glasses. Be careful what you do as far as cleaning the house goes. Chemicals may irritate the eyes and bending over will put pressure on your eyes. Simple things like staring at a computer or television for extended periods of time, or even cranking up the air conditioning in your car, can irritate your eyes. You've got to keep living life; the easiest thing to do is, when you notice the irritation, stop doing what you were doing. Remember, do all that you can to take care of your eyes after surgery.
