Home Builders Association Of Greater Kansas City Reports Highly Relevant Data On New Housing
Home building professionals find out who is building and where they are building with the HBA’s monthly residential building permit reports. The HBA gathers this highly relevant data thanks to a unique relationship with the permit departments in the eight counties and seventy cities that comprise the Greater Kansas City Metropolitan Area. Every month the HBA provides this valuable information in a variety of reports that are available by subscription and include a detailed report, monthly hot sheet, individual address report, subdivision activity report, builder activity report and a statistical report.
In addition, the HBA issues a news release with the metro area summary report to the public. The most recent building permit news release reported statistics about April 2012 and described how home starts in new home construction is continuing at a positive pace for the year.
“Homes are being built, ground is being broken, and lots are selling as the Home Builders Association reports a 50 percent increase in permit activity over the same four months of 2011,” according to Executive Vice President Sara Corless. ...
... January through April’s permits totaled 915 outpacing 601 last year. This is the highest four months of activity since 2008 when permits totaled 1,277. April marks the fourth consecutive month in which starts showed improvement over the same month last year with 277 over 210 in 2011.
“Builders reported increased traffic as well as increased sales during April’s Parade of Homes” said Corless. “Home sale closings in May indicate permit activity will continue into the summer.”
The top four counties ranked by building permit report numbers in April were Johnson, Clay, Jackson and Platte, respectively. Of note, Platte County has increased its share of permits year over year from 7 to 12 percent.
The news release and the overview permit statistical report are posted monthly online for public viewing at www.kchba.org. Subscriptions to specific reports are available for sale to HBA members. To learn more about permit subscriptions contact Marcia Juergens, Marcia@kchba.org.
