Once you have decided upon what type of bed you want to get, you can then shop. Again, shop for the mattress first as this is what you will come into contact with in the bed. While the headboard may be nice and the focal point of the bedroom for the bed, you also want to take into consideration the fact that you will be lying on the mattress. So this should be comfortable for you as well. You want it to be soft, most people like a soft mattress, but at the same time, you want some sort of support. A mattress that is too soft can be hard to sleep in as is one that is too hard. Come up with something in between for best results and decide upon a side. Once you have in mind what you like when it comes to the bed, then you need to get the actual bed which will probably consist of a headboard and rails and may also include a footboard if you so choose.
