Petrol prices has been upped substantially in that last one year causing out stripping demand for diesel powered cars in India which now accounts for almost 60% of the accrued car sales in India.
Honda offers petrol cars in India at present and does not have even a single diesel car in its India portfolio that has caused a major dent in Honda India’s ...
... sales in the last one year. Honda’s Brio hatchback which was launched last year in India has received good response and has also improved Honda’s sales this is one reason that Honda wants to roll out diesel version of this hatch. Also this is the cheapest cat from Honda’s stable and most affordable too therefore the diesel version of this hatch would definitely be an irresistible option for the Indian buyers.Honda Brio Price is notable.
After Honda Brio, Honda Jazz and Honda City will also get a diesel heart. Honda has already doled out remunerative offers on petrol powered cars to attract the customers. Apart from Honda, another car major that has prepone the unveiling of its diesel car. Volkswagen too is looking to use CNG in its cars to make them more affordable. Sales of diesel cars surged 35% last year while sales of petrol cars dropped by 15% last financial year. With the recent hike of Rs 7.50 in the petrol prices, the demand for petrol cars will slump further. Car makers are doling out offers and freebies on petrol powered car to up sales of petrol cars. Within a day of hike in petrol prices Hyundai India announced the ‘petrol price lock assurance programme this programme covers customers who will buy the petrol versions of Hyundai Eon, Hyundai Sanrto, Hyundai i10, Hyundai i20, Hyundai Accent, Hyundai Verna, the programme is valid until May 31st. As per SIAM, the government should reckon its proposal of hiking petrol prices by such high amount.
This steep raise in petrol prices can impact growth of Indian car market to large extent as petrol variant are present in n numbers in India. The gap between petrol prices and diesel prices has now widened largely, SIAM is stressing on revising petrol prices and bringing it down so that car makers as well as customers could get some respite from the current situation.
