Most people panic when their audiologist tells them that their hearing test points to hearing loss and hearing aids are recommended. Old school hearing aids were big, bulky and ugly. They were uncomfortable and embarrassing to wear. They frequently malfunctioned, emitting loud screeches at the most inappropriate times. Most of the negative connotations people have about hearing loss and the need to wear hearing aids is based on these units.

He also served as a faculty member in the Department of Otorhinolaryngology at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center. Dr. Mainord received his Bachelor of Science degree in Speech Language Pathology from the University of Central Arkansas and his Master of Science degree in Audiology from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences.
