Virginia Beach Real Estate
Virginia Beach real estate is at its most affordable right now. More houses, duplexes, and apartments are on the market than ever before. From family homes to efficiency apartments, you have your choice in dwellings. Just let us know, and we’ll get you on the way to home ownership. So, what exactly are you looking for?
EFFICIENCY APARTMENT
An efficiency apartment is really popular with college students or military personnel who know they won’t be here more than a few months. This is usually quite affordable, and you may rent or own – depending on availability. An efficiency is usually only 2 rooms – a bathroom and a large room. The large room will have your kitchen and living/sleeping area. It usually is a little larger than a dorm room, but with the benefit of a kitchen. In these cases, you may want a futon or sleeper sofa so that you can fold the bed up when it’s not in use.
You can find an efficiency apartment in unusual places, too. Sometimes, they’ll be in vintage homes that have been subdivided, giving you access to some of the prettiest homes in Virginia Beach. Your efficiency may be ...
... separate from a house – a building often built for grown offspring or retired parents, and the homeowner wants to sell the site.
DUPLEX
A duplex is usually less expensive to purchase than a free-standing house, simply because it shares a common roof and foundation with another dwelling. It will also share a lawn and patio space, although some people will build privacy fences. Most duplexes have separate meters. Often, a family will buy one side of a duplex and retired parents will buy the other side so that the family can be close together.
SEMI-DETACHED
A semi-detached home is similar to a duplex, but only share one common area, such as an entry hall or garage entry. This type of home will offer you more privacy than a duplex, but still be more affordable than a free-standing home.
HOUSE
A house, of course, is a separate building on its own lot. It can be any size, on any lot. It should have separate rooms for the kitchen, bedroom, bathroom, and living room – otherwise, it’s basically an efficiency apartment.
As you consider your new home, let your real estate agent know what your ideal is. We can show you several selections from every type of home.
