Price Comparison - 99c Vs 95c

It doesn't matter which part of the world you're in, you'll find the same product in at least ten different stores. But the funny part is that the very same product will bear ten different prices; ten prices which normally have a difference of ten cents - how ridiculous! Ridiculous? advertising would argueWhat do you mean it's ridiculous? And then the big debate would begin
It sounds rather pointless to debate 10c - it's only 10c for Pete's sake! Most people have 10c at any particular time in their pockets, and quite frankly, no one cares about 10c. This raises the question: Why do retail businesses resort to these pricing techniques, when in fact, people rarely take pleasure in saving 10c; do they honestly believe they're making our shopping easier than the next retailer?
The truth of the matter is that the way they price their goods, has nothing to do with making our lives simpler, they just give us the impression that it does. The way they do their pricing is what marketing refers to as psychological pricing. I'm not anti-retail by any means; I'm not trying to portray retailers as the bad guys who play ...
... on our minds and hypnotize us to walk an extra flight of stairs, just to buy their products at R9, 99 instead of buying it for R10 from the retailer downstairs. I'm just wondering if people see the point in all this - I don't! I'll never drive two blocks, just so I can save a measly 10ccome to think of it, I won't even drive two blocks to save R1.
There are ‘real deals' out there; deals that matter and should be considered. The ‘save 5c deals' are the most useless practice as far as I'm concerned, and what ticks me off the most is these people go on TV and make a big deal about it; they say it with a wink and a smile - makes me want to go buy the product for double its price elsewhere...
I always look for the best deals, especially if what I want is available from at least two places; I want to invest in the more reasonable of the two deals. But like I said, I don't think there is any sense in retailers attracting customers with 2c savings, and I think it's stupid that they even go on TV and boldly say Save 2c! - No one cares about your 2c!
