Foot Care Doctors In Bhubaneswar – Caring And Treating For Your Feet

It is said that you can have an idea about the hygiene of a person by simply taking a look at his shoes or feet. Foot care should be an important part of our skincare regime. Keeping the feet clean, scrubbing it, moisturising it and of course wearing the right kind of shoes that provide comfort to the feet are some of the basic steps that should be followed for healthy and good looking feet. However, if those feet belong to a diabetic, these steps may not be adequate.
A lot of people may not be aware but foot problems commonly develop in people with diabetes and can quickly turn serious. Diabetes is a disease wherein high blood glucose levels over a period of time can damage the nerves, kidneys, eyes, and blood vessels. With the nervous system getting affected, a person with diabetes may not be able to feel his or her feet properly and eventually it can lead to breakdown of the skin of the foot. Sores may develop. And, damage to blood vessels and impairment of the immune system from diabetes make it difficult to heal these wounds.
If reports are any indication, diabetes can well be termed a common disease in ...
... this part of the country with Odisha having an estimated diabetic population of more than 42 lakh. Around one-fourth of them can fall prey to diabetic foot ulcer. But the good part is that the capital city of Odisha today has an exclusive multispecialty centre on Diabetes - The Kanungo Institute of Diabetes Specialities and thanks to the hospital, today we also have a good number of foot care doctors in Bhubaneswar.
Earlier, one could hardly find foot care doctors in Bhubaneswar and those dealing with problems related to diabetes were rare. But the Kanungo Hospital has changed all of that. The first of such centre became operational at the district headquarters hospital, Khurda on April 3, 2012. Manned by a multidisciplinary team, these centres would not only act as referral points for addressing diabetic foot complications but also create awareness on the importance of footcare among diabetics. A Foot care Express is also on the anvil to complement these centres. The focus of thisa entire programme will be to empower and enable doctors, nurses, Angawanwadi & Asha workers in the target areas to provide appropriate clinical & counselling services to the people with diabetic foot problem & people with diabetes.
