Jodhpur is the second largest city in the state of Rajasthan and is one of the most popular cities in Rajasthan. The city of Jodhpur is dotted with numerous majestic forts, palaces and ancient temples. Its proximity to the Thar desert and other sightseeing destinations in Rajasthan has gone a long way in establishing it as an ideal transit base apart from being a beautiful tourist attraction in itself. Jodhpur is also famously called the Blue City of Rajasthan because of the blue buildings that dominate the landscape near the Mehrangarh Fort. The old city of Jodhpur is built around the Mehrangarh Fort and is bound by a huge wall with several gates. Earlier most parts of the city was inside this wall, however the recent boom experienced by the city during the past several decades, the newer parts of the city are outside the confines of this wall. Jodhpur was founded in 1459 by Rao Jodha, a Rajput chief of the Rathore clan and has thus been named after him too.

Another prominent tourist attraction nunder the Jodhpur Packages is the Jaswant Thada, which is a cenotaph built out of sheets of pure white marble in the memory of Maharaja Jaswant Singh. Umaid Bhawan is famous around the world for being one of the world's largest private residences. The Taj Hotels manage a part of this colossal palace which was named after Maharaja Umaid Singh, grandfather of the present owners of the palace. The Umaid Palace earlier called the Chittar Palace has 347 rooms and is the main residence of the erstwhile Jodhpur royal family. Shopping is another important feature of Jodhpur Packages and is known among the tourists for its beautiful handicrafts, tie and dye textiles, embroidered leather shoes, antiques, puppets, carpets and classic silver jewellery.

Rajasthani cuisine is among the most exotic cuisines in the country and can be had to one's heart's content in Jodhpur. Its unique culinary fare like the Makhaniya Lassi, Mawa Kachori and Mirchibada are a must try.

The well connected city of Jodhpur has an airport and a railway station that links it with most major cities in the country.
