Ultrasound moves and scans whereas x-rays are more stationary.Want to pursue a career as sonographer? Ideally, the first requirement is a background in algebra, natural sciences and basic physics. It usually take 2 years for the course and they also have a 4 year degree bachelors if you eventually plan to progress your schooling. The usual course is comprised of patient care, anatomy, ethcis, physiology etc.Ultrasound technician program can be taken in a lot of accredited schools and colleges around the country. There are also trainings provided in vocational technical training institutes. CAAHEP or the Commission on Accreditation for Allied Health Education Programs accredited around 100 programs for ultrasound technician last 2003.Among the specialized fields of sonography includes obstetric and gynecologic, abdominal, neurosonography, breast, vascular or cardiac sonography. Gynecology ultrasound is the more popular specialization and is scanning the abdomen and reproductive organs for the baby while abdominal sonography is more on internal organs like the liver, spleen, gallbladder, kidneys ane more.
