Top Girls theatre could not have been more exciting. The play finally got its Broadway premiere. The play first premiered at The Public Theatre in 1982. However, this is the first time that Caryl Churchill's celebrated work is getting a Broadway premiere.

The character Isabella Bird is a Victorian explorer who has left her family with her sister while she explores her dreams. Joyce is Marlene's sister who takes care of Marlene's daughter, Angie.

Marisa Tomei has appeared on Broadway in Salome and Wait Until Dark. For her role in Daughters she received a Theatre World Award. Her off-Broadway work includes The Vagina Monologues, Demonology, Dark Rapture, and What the Butler Saw. Her roles in Top Girls theatre Broadway has been greatly appreciated by both the critics and viewers alike.

Mary Catherine Garrison plays Patient Griselda, Jeanine, Kit and Shona in Top Girls. Patient Griselda is the character in Geoffrey Chaucer's Canterbury Tales. We had earlier seen Garrison on Broadway in Rabbit Hole, Assassins, and The Man Who Came To Dinner. Her off-Broadway work includes The Foreigner, Debbie Does Dallas, Crimes of the Heart, and The Last of the Thorntons.

Martha Plimpton plays Pope Joan and Angie. Currently she is also starring in Cymbeline, a Lincoln Center Theatre's production. Earlier in the year we saw her Central Park's A Midsummer Night's Dream. She received a Tony Award nomination for her role in The Coast of Utopia.
