Focusing on successes, with no outcomes - Telling the future employer that you made a change in the company policy lead to "so what" reaction. However, telling them you saved the business X number of pounds by making that change sparks his or her interest. Writing an autobiographical type of curriculum vitae - While this often is the most common style of resume, it actually does not accomplish what you want it to, neither will it tell anyone reading through it what they want to know. They do not need your life history; these people want to know what you're capable of doing for them.
