One of the best tourist destinations in Coast of Almeria is Vera. It may be a small holiday resort on the Gulf of Almeria but it is very popular with 7 kilometers of beautiful sandy beaches that have the coveted “Blue Flag” award. History

Vera has a colorful history that is similar to many Almerian towns due to its strategic location. Vera attracted the likes of Moors, Carthaginians, Phoenicians and Romans in the past to mold it to its form today. The Carthaginians called Vera “Barea” while the Romans named it “Baria”.Various conquests brought on their own culture and traditions which have lingered on in Vera over the centuries. One would never get bored with Vera as there are day trips and excursions which could be enjoyed besides the beautiful beaches to laze around. There are many other towns and nearby beaches around Vera which can be accessed easily by bus or car.
