The name of the region Wayanad has quite a story to it. As per one story Wayanad is the combination of two Tamil words (Vayal + Naad), Vayal meaning Paddy field and Naad meaning land thus, Wayanad meaning 'land of the paddy fields', while as per another story, it is said that Wayanad used to be formerly known as Mayakshetra (Maya’s land) which later became Mayanad to finally settle down to Wayanad.

Wayanad is a complete treat for nature and wildlife lovers and is home to a wide variety of flora and fauna.
