Wayanad is a charming little destination located in the north-east of Kerala. The region is widely renowned for its paddy fields. Wayanad is a quaint little holiday destination extremely popular with the tourists who flock to the region in large numbers for some peace and solace far away from the hustle and bustle of city life. Wayanad is one of the sparsely populated regions of Kerala and as such the region acts as an escape for tourists looking to just get away from the everyday mundane happenings of their life.

The name Wayanad is believed to be the combination of two Tamil words (Vayal + Naad), Vayal meaning Paddy field and Naad meaning land and as such the region literally translating into the 'land of the paddy fields'. Wayanad has another very interesting folk lore associated behind the naming of the region, that is the region was formerly known as Mayakshetra (Maya's land) from where it became Mayanad, to finally settle down to Wayanad.

Some of which include Chembra Peak, Neelimala, Meenmutty Falls, Chethalayam Falls, Pakshipathalam, Banasura Sagar Dam, Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary, Muthanga Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary, Tholpetty, Jain Temple, Edakkal Caves, Pazhassi Raja's Tomb, Pookote Lake, Sentinel Rock Falls, Kanthanpara Falls, Sunrise Valley and much more.

Along with sightseeing, the rich surroundings of the region offer the perfect setting to enjoy various sorts of adventure sports activities like trekking, hiking, nature walks, camping, mountaineering, etc. A visit to the local markets is also must, which are renowned for their coffee, tea, cocoa, pepper, plantain and vanilla among others.

There are ample numbers of hotels and resorts offering a variety of accommodation options to tourists to choose from. The various accommodation options are present across all budget segments so as to cater to all tastes and preferences of the myriad of travelers visiting the region.
