Well, rather than going out for meals, consider doing your own grocery shopping and cooking for yourself. If you are not one for cooking then go on a taste-bud adventure by eating and tasting local food. Not only will you be buying and eating like a local, you will also introduce yourself to tastes never experienced! And lets face it, you came to study Chinese in China for new experiences, correct?
3.Public Transportation
Avoid the taxis! Although taxis in China are considered very cheap once compared to western prices, the fact of the matter is however, taxi fares add up and do so quickly! In comparison, Public transportation is one of the cheapest ways to get around when living abroad. Buses and trains are excellent alternatives to these expensive taxicab rides around your host city. Futhermore taking public transportation is a great way to meet people from all walks of life and get acquainted with the local culture.
When you study abroad in China, allow yourself to explore the culture. Open your mind to new experiences and fully embrace the differences and sensations which will be offered. By doing this you will make every penny spent on this study abroad in China experience worthwhile and thus affordable!
