With so many operating systems available in the market, I am sure you would be confused in selecting the right platform for your app development. When it comes to choosing a platform for tablet app development, most choices are well known. You can develop app for multi-platforms, but you still need to make a decision to target your tablet app development towards a particular OS. With each mobile platform, there are some advantages, making it better or worse than others. Listed down are certain advantages that can help you choose the right platform for your tablet app.

iOS
iOS is of course the leader in tablet market around the world. Gartner says iPad will have 61 percent of sales in 2012. iPad has all the features to destroy competition. Most iPad users have money and they are not afraid to spend it. So this becomes the biggest reason for you to develop an app for the iPad. iPad’s user base is pretty attractive. iPad offers better coding tools, developer ecosystem, publishing and distribution paths, and monetization options. However, iPad has a downside too. With almost 200,000 iPad apps, your app will have ...
... challenges to get noticed. Until you are a major brand or you have good promotion budget, success is limited.

Android
Strongest competitor of iPad in today’s time is Android. A report by Gartner reveals that Android would have 32 percent of tablet sales in 2012, growing to 37 percent in 2016. There are many reasons to choose Android tablet development over others. The platform still has fewer dedicated tablets apps, which means you have better chances to get your app noticed. If you build an Android tablet app with attractive design and user-friendly features, there are more chances of success.

Kindle Fire
A recent article in Forbes declared that Amazon’s Kindle Fire has eaten large amount Samsung’s tablet market share in US. This tablet runs on a highly customized Android OS which doesn’t look like Android. Amazon offers the tablet with preloaded Kindle-Fire app store on all devices shipped by it. Kindle fire now accounts for 50 percent of all Android tablet sales and gives many reasons to be preferred for a tablet app development. The first one is the statistic of sales. The sheer number of Kindle Fires being sold leaves many with wide eyes. The second is the ability of Amazon to uniquely place the device in the market. Growing sales prove that this device is actually of use and has a large buyer share. Kindle Fire, for now, gives golden opportunity to Android developers who are looking for more ways to make money.

Windows 8
Windows 8 is expected to hit the market in October this year. HP is going to enter the tablet market with Windows 8 series. According to Gartner’s report, Microsoft would sell about five million units in 2012. There were many expectations with Windows Phone 7 OS, but Nokia’s Lumia did nothing admirable. There are guesses that Windows 8 will be a fantastic OS to power tablets. The only benefit with developing tablet apps for Windows might be that Microsoft may be willing to pay you or guarantee a certain level of revenue.

BlackBerry
BlackBerry has even lower sales. Choosing tablet app development for this platform provides the benefits similar to Microsoft. Maybe, RIM could finance your app development project but don’t be surprised if the platform disappears before the end of 2012.
Selection also makes success
Finally, your decision to go with a platform will help you determine how you develop your app. It will determine how you will sell the end-product or make a plan to promote it.

For any kind of
mobile application development you should choose a right
software development company
