We all know that the sun can be damaging to our eyes. We hear talk of UVA and UVB rays (and even UVC rays may factor into the damage to our eyes), and yet few people actually realise just how easy the sun can start to cause us problems.

The right sunglasses come in very handy when the glare from the sun could cause us issues and, as such, many people will choose to use their sunglasses only for driving or only when the sun is forcing them to squint against it. However, whilst this will help you stay safe on the road and avoid annoying headaches and excessive wrinkles around the eyes, the UVA and UVB rays are still going to be around even when you are not driving.

There are many long term effects of UV exposure, but there are also short term ones which can be just as troublesome. Short term effects of over exposure to UV rays include loss of vision for 24 – 48 hours, something commonly known as snow-blindness.
