When you think of the word oil, what comes to mind? For many, it’s cooking. Vegetable oil, olive oil and the like, but have you ever considered adding oil as a new addition to your health care regiment? Not only to be taken orally but often topically too.

There are a large variety of oils on the market today. Some, like coconut oil and olive oil, can be consumed both topically and orally, whilst others such as Bio-oil are solely for topical application. Some oil is specific to certain areas of the body, whilst others such as coconut oil are beneficial to a variety of areas such has hair, skin and the eyes.

Perhaps one of the most talked about forms of oil is Bio-oil. Bio-oil is quickly taking the world by storm with its vast amount of beneficial properties to the skin and general health and wellbeing. The ingredients included in Bio-oilare vitamins A and E, chamomile extract, PurCellin oil and other, natural oils. Bio-oil has become a popular form of skincare treatment for those with scars – such as those caused from acne, and people with stretch marks from weight loss or pregnancy. In addition, ...
... Bio-oil is popular amongst those wishing to treat dehydrated skin by restoring moisture, and those who wish to treat an uneven complexion by reducing the appearance of pigmentation.

Bio-oil is a great way to maintain the skin’s natural moisture balance; therefore it remains the oil of choice for people wishing to restore their dehydrated skin. Simple daily activities such as showering and exposure to sun and air can cause a loss of the skin’s protective, oil layer. By rubbing a small amount in to chapped and dry areas every day after showering, Bio-oil can assist the skin in repairing itself.

Fish-oil, unlike Bio-oil, is to be consumed orally. Fish-oil is derived from the tissue of oily fish and is generally consumed either in liquid or tablet form. Fatty acids, like those found in Fish-oil, are not produced by the body naturally, and are essential components of our diet if we are to maintain good health. Fish-oil is not recommended for a specific health condition, rather, it is beneficial for a variety, including assisting in the lowering of blood pressure, helping to prevent heart disease, assisting those suffering from depression, attention deficit-hyperactivity disorder and assisting in the prevention of Alzheimer’s disease – amongst other health conditions.

Last but not least is Krill-oil. Krill-oil is derived from crustaceans that can be found in the areas of the Southern Ocean, the northern Pacific Ocean and along the coast of Japan. Krill-oil, like Fish-oil, contains omega-3 fatty acids as well as natural antioxidants effective in preventing damage to the body from such things as free radicals. Krill-oil is beneficial for a variety of reasons including relieving the symptoms of arthritis, and assisting in the lowering high cholesterol levels.

Oil, whether it be applied topically or consumed orally, has become a staple item in today’s health and wellbeing market. Oil can make a great addition to your healthcare regiment and can generally be found online or at your local chemist.
